Akal Charitable Hospital

The Kalgidhar Society, Baru Sahib is a non-profit charitable organization focused on providing education and health care for more than last three decades. Akal Charitable hospital is one of the initiatives by Kalgidhar Society conceptualised by Honorable Baba Iqbal Singh Ji for the benefit of ailing humanity.

The hospital provides round the clock care to the students and staff members on campus as well as to the residents of this hilly area within a radius of 100 Kms. This includes Nohradhar, Sangrah, Habban, Rajgarh, Haripurdhar, Chopal, Renuka, Kupvi as well as Jubbal and Kotkhai. The unique infrastructural facilities in the Akal complex is the multi-specialty, 100 bed hospital where health care facilities are provided to under privileged rural and hilly people at very nominal charges.

Free medical and surgical camps and health check-up camps are organized four times in a year since 1980’s, where patients are brought from remote areas of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab. The first free surgical camp was conducted in the year 1980 by Dr.Dhanwant Singh in which 100 eye surgeries were done. At the camps, highly experienced surgeons perform most advanced surgeries absolutely free of cost providing high quality care. Many of these medical camp members come from abroad, UK, USA and Canada as volunteers. These camps provide extra ordinary hands on professional experience to our budding nursing students. Students are posted in various areas of ACH, where they give need based care to the patient. Approximately 400 plus surgeries including hysterectomies, cholecystectomies, herniectomies, ENT surgeries, eye surgeries, fibroids, renal stones, plastic and ortho surgeries are performed in free medical and surgical camps every year. After surgeries, patients are looked after in the indoor department by the host team and discharged after 7-10 days as advised by the medical specialist.

Ambulance services are also available to tackle any kind of emergencies. The hospital has a dedicated team of expert doctors, trained nurses and paramedical staff to ensure the health safety of the local patients and in house population of 3500 (staff and students of Eternal University, Akal Academy).

Akal Charitable Hospital is the parent hospital for Akal College of Nursing. The nursing students learn to apply latest trends of international standards in the nursing care. The faculty of Nursing remains in respective areas with the students to facilitate bed side clinical teachings as per norms and requirements given by Indian Nursing Council.

Akal De-addiction Center & Psychiatric Services , unit of Akal Charitable Hospital is running OPD & IPD Services.It also holds two free medical camps every month in Rajgarh ,Solan & Shimla.More then 300 patients have been treated till date in first two years with amazingly low relapse rate.The hospital also has a female psychiatric unit which is treating patients with both acute and chronic mental illness like schizophrenia , depression, personality disorders,mood disorders etc.
