From the nursing books to online teaching and simulation pattern of examination
Starting its journey from 2008 with setup of several milestones: Bachelors (2008), first International Nursing Conference (2008) & Masters in Nursing (2015) the Akal College of Nursing has always worked towards proficiency since its inception. Setting another milestone today Akal College of Nursing has become the first nursing college to start with the world class state-of-the-art simulation pattern/facilities (2020) for the examination of outgoing batch. This is done to ensure that the teaching and learning process of nursing students should not get disturbed due to such pandemics. Many scenarios were created based on COIVD-19, antenatal care, under 5 children, environmental sanitation, immunization etc.. the students were guided to use PPE kits, social distancing norms. The nursing students used to practice basic skills on each other or on mannequins for long time. Simulation in nursing education proves to be beneficial for both students and patients and is used for the training of health professionals in terms of learning, safety and polishing their skills, which complies with international standards. This step definitely improves to be the benchmark in terms of quality nursing care. The college is using simulation for all the nursing speciality in the campus such as Medical surgical nursing, Community health nursing, Mental Health Nursing and Obstetric & Gynaecological nursing.
